So of course I would find a new way to fuck up completely. I have never bleached my own roots before and was scared about it. A girl at Sally gave me great advice and made me feel better about doing it so I got some Prism Lites violet lighter, plus 10v developer from Ion. Mixed around 1:1:1 with lightener:10v:shampoo (at the girl's suggestion) and let it sit on my roots for 50 minutes. I probably could have gone longer but I didn't want to overdo it.
Dried it, then applied ion color brilliance brights Lavender dye at around a 2:1 ratio with their clear shade diluter. Applied it to my roots first then worked it through my hair really thoroughly. Let that sit with a cap on for like two freaking hours. When I washed it out everything looked great except my roots which are like.. white. Literally just the roots, not even the parts where the bleach overlapped. It looks okay for now, and I have leftover dye (and a darker shade of purple tube as well), so how do I fix it? I was going to try re-dying it tomorrow, but maybe someone knows why the hell this happened.
Edit: I guess the roots did tone since they don't have a yellow color to them anymore. I'm hoping the second dye will take. Since I have the darker color I will try to gradient it from dark to light, but for tonight I'm just going to leave it.
Nov 09, 2017 This weekend I went from dark brown hair to blonde hair! This is a talk through on how to bleach your hair at home and how to balayage your own hair at home. Bleaching my hair was scary, but it. Salon Care Prism Lites Blue 2 tablespoons Salon Care Prism Lites Violet 2 tablespoons Ion Sensitive Scalp 20% Volume Developer 2 tablespoons Ion Color Brilliance Sensitive Scalp Protector 10 drops. Bleach burns, the scalp protector is a godsend. I have never used it before and it seriously is amazing!
